From The Golden Hands Of My Local Culture

An eTwinning journey through traditional arts and our cultural heritage

Our school participated in the European eTwinning project “From The Golden Hands Of My Local Culture,” a program that aims to bring students closer to their roots and local traditions by exploring traditional arts and crafts.

Students from different countries (Ελλάδα, Türkiye and a Czechia) collaborated to research, present, and exchange information about the traditional art forms of their regions such as weaving, silversmithing, pottery, bell-making, woodcarving, and many others.
Using digital tools, they created presentations, videos, and digital stories that highlight the creativity, craftsmanship, and cultural diversity of Europe.

Project Objectives

  1. Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage
Students discover the arts and crafts that form living parts of their history and culture, contributing to their preservation and transmission to younger generations.
  2. Cultivation of Intercultural Communication and Cooperation
Through the exchange of knowledge and creations with students from other countries, they develop mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation for diverse cultural traditions.
  3. Development of Digital Skills and Creativity
Participants learn to use modern digital tools (e.g., Canva, Padlet, Genially, eTwinning TwinSpace) to present their work in an engaging and innovative way.
  4. Strengthening of Local Identity and Students’ Self-Esteem
By exploring the “golden” crafts of their homeland, students feel pride in their own cultural heritage and gain confidence in sharing it with a wider European audience.

Results and Impact

Through this collaboration, students:
• Created digital presentations and videos about their local arts and crafts.
• Participated in online exhibitions and intercultural meetings.
• Developed teamwork, creativity, and respect for diversity.
• Learned that tradition and innovation can coexist, building bridges of friendship among peoples.

The project culminated in the creation of a digital cultural album and an online handicraft exhibition, where all collaborative results were presented.

Conclusion

From The Golden Hands Of My Local Culture demonstrated that traditional arts do not belong only to the past—they are living sources of inspiration, cooperation, and cultural connection for Europe’s future. The “golden hands” of our people continue to mold, weave, and create, teaching our students that culture is, above all, an art of the heart.
